How do I sign up for a bike?
You can sign up for a bike for the summer semester, fall semester, or both using this Google Form. The rentals are on a first come first serve basis. When a bike is ready for you, you will be contacted via email by the Library with further instruction.
Where do I rent a bike?
Visit the main campus library circulation desk to check out the bike & helmet keys.
Bikes are housed in the exterior bike pavilion near the ERC.
Helmets are kept at the circulation desk and can be checked out there.
What are the rental terms and fees?
Semester rentals – select Summer (May 11th- August 14th), Fall (August 21st- November 20th) or both (May 11th- November 20th).
$20 per semester (rental for both semesters is $40). We only rent the bikes on a semester basis.
Pay in cash at the library’s Circulation desk.
You will also need to sign a waiver, which is included on the Google Form.
Late Fees
If you fail to return your bike at the end of your rental period, you will be charged a late return fee. You will be allowed a 5-day grace period after your rental is due before you are charged. The cost of the late return fee is $20.
Bike Replacement Fee
You are responsible for the security of the bike while it is in your possession. If the bike is stolen, or damaged beyond repair, or you fail to return the bike for any reason, you will be charged a replacement fee for the bike. The cost of the bike replacement fee is $200.
What is included?
Helmet and lock are included in your rental.
Where are the Clarkson bike racks?
This interactive map shows locations for bike racks around Clarkson’s campus.
What do I do if my tires need air or I have a mechanical issue?
If your tires need air, there is a pump outside of the doors of the ERC that face the Student Center.
If you have a mechanical issue, please email waltmagr@clarkson.edu. You may contact the library circulation desk to exchange the bike for a different one (if there is availability) while the other is being fixed. We will service the bike and notify you when the issue has been resolved. Please do not attempt to repair the bike yourself.
Where do I return my bike?
All bike returns should be done in person, at the library circulation desk. You must return the bicycle to the covered bike rack outside the ERC, along with the bike lock and key. Please secure the bicycle to the rack using the provided bike lock, and return the key to the library circulation desk. Helmets should also be returned to the circulation desk. Do not leave the key and helmet if there is nobody at the circulation desk.
