Office and Lab Space: A room within one of the buildings in which NCI operates will be selected for you based upon the unique needs your business has.

General Business Council: NCI staff will provide direction on the principles of early-stage business development including: 

  • Business advisors
  • Market identification
  • Professional advisors/mentors

Legal: NCI staff can provide a variety of legal services including:

  • Business Entity Formation
  • Economic Development Incentives
  • Provisional Patent Filing

Prototyping: NCI offers ignition grant funding to help cover the costs associated with developing a product or service. Additionally they also have a vast network of resources which may be helpful throughout the prototyping process.

Business Development: NCI will regularly plan, schedule, publicize and conduct training workshops and seminars tailored to the needs of the clients located within NCI space. These workshops will be open to off- site clients, NCI Clients, as well as Clarkson University Faculty, Staff and Students. The programs will address business planning and management, business finances, taxation, proposal development, marketing, and other similar business subjects.

Training workshops may be located in NCI’s conference room or on Clarkson University’s campus. Workshops will include guest lecturers, live televised presentations from distance-learning sources, presentations and exercises led by NCI. Instructional materials will also be provided to attendees to facilitate the application of the training received to their particular business situation.

Business Plan Review: Experienced council is available for the development of new business plans, as well as analysis and revision of completed plans. NCI staff will provide recommendations in the following areas: 

  • Components of the business plan
  • Critique of completed plans
  • Format for financial projections
  • Information gathering strategies
  • Plan outlines
  • Purpose of the business plan
  • Review of draft in component parts
  • Sources of information

Small Business Development Center: Counselors from the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are available to any businesses located in the North Country. The SBDC provides training including business planning and marketing. 

Press Releases: NCI will issue press releases at various times to publicize clients’ activity. Client activities promoting press releases include but are not limited to:

  • Graduation from NCI
  • Major contracts secured

  • Major products sale
  • New funding secured

  • New products introduced
  • Newly signed lease agreement
