Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

Clarkson University ensures the humane and ethical treatment of animals in research and educational activities. The IACUC reviews research protocols, conducts facility inspections, and provides training and guidance to researchers. Our commitment is to maintain high standards of animal care, in compliance with federal regulations and ethical principles, while supporting scientific and educational advancements.

Clarkson University recognizes its responsibility to ensure the humane and appropriate care and use of all live vertebrate animals used or intended for use in research, research training, experimentation, biological testing, or teaching. Therefore, the University has established and provides resources for an Animal Care and Use Program and an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) that oversees the program, facilities, policies, and procedures.
