Fast Facts

The Clarkson Arboretum is located on the Munter Trail, which is on the west end of the campus
- The trail is about 2.1 miles round trip and is a moderately easy walk with an elevation gain of 62 feet. Check out the AllTrails map below!
The arboretum includes 25+ species of trees and is actively expanding
Our arboretum lies adjacent to the Raquette River, which is home to many animal species, including fish, beavers, and bald eagles
The Clarkson University Outing Club (CUOC) boat house is located in the arboretum; on nice days, you can often see students out on boats on the river
Along the trail, there are vernal pools, temporary wetlands that fill with water and dry out on a seasonal basis, which offer breeding grounds for organisms such as frogs and insects
There are overlooks and picnic tables placed along the trail to enjoy the scenery
The Hannawa Falls Railroad (built in 1899 and abandoned in 1917) once ran through the river and onto the trail; sometimes, the wooden pylons that supported the bridge are still visible in the river
