Tau Beta Pi’s NYQ chapter is proud to announce that Dr. Selma Mededovic Thagard has received this year’s Tau Beta Pi Faculty Award! The members of our Engineering Honor Society felt that her exceptional dedication to teaching and mentoring future engineers truly deserves recognition.

Dr. Selma Mededovic Thagard

Teaching has become one of the most meaningful parts of my professional life. At Clarkson, I have found something truly special in the students and in the bond we build together. My classroom has always felt like more than a classroom. It feels like a family. I want students to know that my door is always open, whether they need help with course material, advice about research, or simply someone to talk to about life, dreams, and struggles. I often offer unsolicited advice, because my goal has always been to shape students not only as engineers and professionals, but as fully rounded human beings.

Dr. Mededovic Thagard is the Richard and Helen March Endowed Professor of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. Her research group, Thagard Plasma Research Group, largely focuses on understanding of processes occurring at interfaces of plasmas and liquids.
