About the BRAIN-STEM Project

Sparking interest in STEM and the health sciences

The success of our program relies on our interdisciplinary team of CU faculty, CU undergraduate and graduate student mentors,  teacher coaches, health science resource specialists, and digital communication and curriculum development professionals. Our aim is to provide innovative curriculum and guidance so that anyone anywhere can use these resources to spark interest in health care professions.

Overview of the Brainstem Program, organized into three main sections: Immersive Teacher Institute, Summer Camps, and After School Program. 1. Immersive Teacher Institute focuses on metacognition, building partnerships, and curriculum design based on Next Generation Science Standards. 2. Summer Camps emphasize mentoring, metacognition related to addiction and concussion, and research skills. 3. After School Program includes in-school activities with weekly meetings and mentorship, on-campus monthly research workshops, and field trips to interact with healthcare professionals and observe research. Each section highlights different aspects of experiential learning and metacognition to support student development and understanding.
