Mission & Vision
What we stand for and where we are headed
Our Mission
The institute supports practical, responsible, ethical, and visible uses of AI at Clarkson across teaching, research, management, entrepreneurship, and behavioral science. Its purpose is to help faculty, staff, and students test tools, improve workflows, strengthen research and instruction, and develop projects that can lead to new programs, external partnerships, and funding opportunities.
Our Vision
“The institute will become a credible campus hub for applied AI: a place where Clarkson coordinates its teaching, research, and innovation efforts; supports experimentation across disciplines; develops novel applications; and builds a recognizable identity in AI that strengthens the university’s academic profile and public visibility.”
Year 1 Member Expectations
To keep membership expectations realistic in Year 1, institute affiliates are asked to meet five achievable benchmarks by May 2027.
01
Attend at least three institute meetings, workshops, or working sessions during the first year.
02
Share one AI tool, workflow, or resource with other members.
03
Contribute to at least one institute output — a guide, workshop, proposal, or working group.
04
Develop one practice presentation, student opportunity, or recruitment-facing example.
05
Identify one realistic next-step opportunity — a funding lead, lab idea, partnership, or possible academic offering.
