Dr. Abul BM Baki

Dr. Abul BM Baki joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY as an Assistant Professor in July 2018. Prior to this position, he was hired as a Water Resources Engineer/Scientist at Ecofish Research Ltd., Vancouver, Canada. Dr. Baki earned his Ph.D. in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Alberta. He also holds both B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in Water Resources Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Since the beginning of his Ph.D. studies through to the present Day, he has been working on ecohydraulics for sustainable water resources infrastructure. He has honed his engineering skills on applied projects focusing on ecohydraulics, fishpass design/optimization, stream restoration, river morphology, sediment transport, and water quality. His contributions to his field have earned him multiple prestigious awards such as The Karl Emil Hilgard Hydraulic Prize from the American Society of Civil Engineers in 2018 and The Donald R. Stanley Award from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering in 2015 among others. Dr. Baki is a registered Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
