As part of renovations completed in 2017 through a generous grant from the George I. Alden Trust, a Little River Research & Design Em4 stream table was purchased for the laboratory. The stream table is used to conduct labs for classes, including channel development and migration; interaction of channels and structures such as bridges, culverts, weirs, fish passages, etc.; ground water flow; and hydrology. It simulates river and other geologic processes with remarkable accuracy. The stream table accommodates up to 15 students at a time allowing larger courses to perform the labs in a reasonable amount of time and includes a 3m x 1m stream table, plastic modeling sediment colored by size, digital flow control, single axis tilt base, structures kit (bridge, culvert, fish passage, weir models), and academic kit (laboratory tools).
