We encourage a minimum donation of $50 per racer.
Why should you partner?
Our goal is to highlight your business’ commitment to our community in as many productive ways as possible, including those listed on the following page. Our community will start to anticipate this event year after year with our attendance reaching the thousands, and you have the opportunity to be a supporter. Through news outlets, radio stations, print publications and other media outlets, your company’s promotion will be seen.
This event is not funded at all by the University, because in order to keep the funds available for the students this is a purely student run event. Sponsorship for us helps to pay the $14000 that we need to bring the boats to our location, so that the paddlers do not have to pay to participate. We also have to pay to house the 7 members who come to train the teams as well as run the race, and we need to feed them 3 meals a day for a week as well. Paying to participate in the event has been a hindrance of participants in the past when I have been part of these events. If we don’t charge someone to participate, they are more likely to reach out to family, friends, etc and gather pledges for their participation, which goes directly to the student run health initiatives.
While monetary sponsorship is helpful, there are other ways you can help. Sponsor the training team’s meal while they are here, donate gift cards for food to your restaurant, or prizes for highest pledge, best costume and overall winners!
