CUEMS Achieves EMS Ready Campus Recognition
Clarkson University Emergency Medical Services (CUEMS) is proud to announce that our organization has been awarded the EMS Ready Campus Bronze Level by the National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF). This national recognition highlights collegiate EMS agencies that demonstrate strong emergency preparedness, inter-agency coordination, and a commitment to keeping their campus communities safe.
The designation reflects CUEMS’ comprehensive work over the 2023–2024 academic year to evaluate and strengthen our operational readiness. As a 100% student-run, NYS accredited BLS First Response agency, CUEMS serves Clarkson’s 3,400-person campus with an annual call volume of 200+ calls. This recognition also affirms our integration with Clarkson Campus Safety & Security (CSS), Environmental Health & Safety, and regional emergency services across St. Lawrence County.

What Is an EMS Ready Campus?
The EMS Ready Campus program looks at how well a collegiate EMS agency prepares for major emergencies, not just everyday medical calls. To earn recognition, CUEMS demonstrated:
- Strong communication and campus alert systems
- Collaboration with Clarkson Campus Safety and municipal agencies
- Advanced training in incident command, triage, and scene management
- Regular practice through drills and mock-scenario events
- Plans for responding to large-scale incidents or special situations
- Engagement with the campus community through safety education and outreach
Being named an EMS Ready Campus means Clarkson has a well-coordinated system designed to protect students during both routine incidents and unexpected events.
