In recognition of\u00a0Black History Month, the\u00a0Office of Access Initiatives, in partnership with the\u00a0American Red Cross, invites the campus community to participate in the\u00a02nd Annual Black History Month Sickle Cell Blood Drive\u00a0on\u00a0Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from\u00a010:30 AM\u20134:30 PM\u00a0in the\u00a0Student Center Multipurpose Rooms.
\nSickle Cell Disease disproportionately affects individuals of African ancestry, making diverse blood donors\u2014particularly donors of African descent\u2014essential to providing compatible, life-saving transfusions and improving long-term health outcomes.\u00a0This blood drive highlights the critical role of inclusive blood donation in supporting individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease.
\nAppointments are encouraged and appreciated, and\u00a0walk-ins are welcome. Individuals with blood types\u00a0O negative, O positive, A negative, or B negative\u00a0are especially encouraged to consider a\u00a0Power Red Cell donation, which can help save more lives with a single visit.
\nAppointments can be scheduled by calling\u00a01-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767)\u00a0or visiting\u00a0redcrossblood.org\u00a0and using the sponsor code\u00a0ClarksonU. Donors are encouraged to download the\u00a0Blood Donor App\u00a0and use\u00a0RapidPass\u00ae\u00a0to save time on the day of the drive.
\nAll members of the campus community are encouraged to participate in this Black History Month initiative and help strengthen a diverse, inclusive, and reliable blood supply.
