Named in honor of John Munter &#8217;59 and his family, the trail was established through their significant contributions. John Munter, a Clarkson alumnus, dedicated countless hours to designing and constructing the trail system, utilizing equipment from his family&#8217;s business, Munter Enterprises. This collaborative effort resulted in a network of trails that provide access to the Raquette River and offer scenic views of Fall Island. This three-story indoor climbing wall offers students and visitors a challenging and engaging climbing experience. The facility is student-staffed and features a variety of routes, including bouldering, top rope, and lead climbing options. The wall serves as a hub for the Clarkson University Outing Club, providing a space for students to develop their climbing skills and foster a sense of community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Munter Enterprises: Building the Foundation<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Munter Enterprises, founded in 1972 by John Munter Sr. and his wife, Rosemary, has been a cornerstone of the regional construction industry. The company, based in Middle Grove, NY, has grown into a leader in the northeast construction sector, offering a range of services from land acquisition and design to general contracting. A bridge used to stand across the river for a railroad that ran between Potsdam and Hannawa Falls in the early 1900s. The rails, built by the Hannawa Falls Water Power Company, were originally used to transport wood pulp and later used for enjoyment.
